Occupational Audiometric Technician Certification & Recertification Courses

Course description

This training equips participants with the essential knowledge and skills to conduct workplace hearing screening tests. You’ll explore the theoretical foundations of hearing conservation, learn to perform audiometric testing, and accurately categorize results. Upon successful completion, you will be recognized as a Qualified Audiometric Technician under the Alberta Occupational Health and Safety Code, Part 16: Noise  and will meet the competencies outlined in Canadian Standards Association (CSA) Standards: CSA Z107.6:16 (R2020): Audiometric Testing for Use in Hearing Loss Prevention Programs. 


Peak Audiology is an approved course provider with the Government of Alberta.

Full Certification Course - 2 days: October 7 & 8, 2025 (Edmonton, AB).  

  • This course requires pre-reading of course materials and completion of an online practice exam to ensure familiarity with the content before the in-person training.
  • The in-person training spans over two days and includes both a practical component and a final written examination. The course focuses on hands-on practice, equipping students to perform hearing tests on noise-exposed workers. It also ensures a deep understanding of how to classify audiometric test results, counsel workers on their outcomes, and provide guidance on hearing protection. 
  • Training sessions will primarily be held in Edmonton and surrounding areas.  
  • On-site training for companies or groups of employees may be available by request.


Recertification Course: October 1, 2025 (Edmonton, AB). 

  • The in-person training spans over one day and includes both a practical component and a final written examination. 
  • Refresher for hands-on audiometric techniques and ensures a thorough understanding of classification of audiometric test results, counseling results and educating workers about the use of hearing protection devices.
